Andrew Mandinach

Andrew Mandinach is an installation artist who works in performance and video. His work often uses personas—such as the misfit or social outcast—to examine social mores. Rooted in real-life, experienced situations, the personas exaggerate the “other” in order to open up dialogue about the perceived abnormal. Since 2008, Andrew has worked with Rebecca Bruno documenting/collaborating on house performances. Based in San Diego, Mandinach received his BA in Media from the University of California at San Diego and produces videos in Balboa Park.

Monsters Never Create Themselves  | upstairs bathroom

'Monsters Never Create Themselves' is an autobiographical piece about loss of life and love and the process of trying to reconstruct a new normal in the aftermath. A work-in-progress, this piece is as much a reflection of the events that have unfolded, as it is an ongoing grieving process.
