Place-Making with AB Miller, 2020
In January 2020, we partnered with A.B. Miller High School’s Level II Conservatory of Dance (led by Rosa Rodriguez-Frazier)and the Sam and Alfreda Maloof Foundation for our inaugural program. Due to COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders, our program was postponed just one week before our scheduled public performance. The program was restructured and we continued to offer support and guidance to students as they shifted from site-specific dance > site-specific dance at home for film.
The students drew inspiration from the concepts developed at the Maloof site, and the resulting footage (shot and edited by the students, many of whom have no editing experience) is evidence of their team work, creativity, perseverance, and resilience in a time of uncertainty, change, and isolation.
