A youth-initiated dance program focusing on one’s relationship to space and location

inSITE is homeLA’s immersive after-school master program in site-specific dance for highschool students enrolled in dance programs in public high schools.

Our program activities align with California Visual and Performing Arts Standards and includes 8-12 weeks of dance-mentoring classes led by highly skilled California dance artists with extensive site-sensitive dance practices.

Classes and rehearsals are conducted at school and at a partnering public space. Program participants are mentored in site-sensitive considerations during conceptualization, development, and production; guided in the development of choreography and composition; and given agency in their creative art-making process to cultivate critical thinking, communication, effective collaboration, problem solving, and leadership. The program was created in 2020 and is free to participants.
