homeLA is proud to partner with MoFundamentals for the second year to bring you a second year of showcasing foster youth voices in the arts.

Join us on March 9th from 5-7:30p at The Box gallery's parking lot for a festival-style event with dance, music, films, art, and vendors by, for, and with current and former foster youth and foster youth advocates.   The event programming includes a voguing dance class by Daniel Bisuano; dance performance choreographed by Gabriel Gutierrez of MoFundamentals, an adoptee-led arts program; films by students of Kids In The Spotlight, a non-profit that helps foster youth heal and grow from trauma through the power of storytelling and filmmaking; and music by Jacob BLACC Jackson, foster youth advocate for the Youth Justice Coalition.

You can also support foster youth entrepreneurs by shopping vendor booths from TheElevenShop Candles by former foster youth Diamond Evans that promotes mental health awareness and Foster Youth Flea, a community market that provides youth impacted by the foster care system opportunities to generate income, develop and tune their entrepreneurial skill sets, and network with the larger foster youth and advocacy community.   Enjoying a photo exhibition by curated by Journey House VAPA, who provide services for former foster youth as they emancipate from the foster care system and transition into adulthood.  Plus learn more about the work of Project Q, a non-profit dedicated to providing essential services specifically tailored to support ex-foster youth and Black LGBTQ individuals who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.   Free YoungLA athleisure wear giveaways will be provided by Brown Bag Lady, a non-profit rooted in using kindness, food and essentials as a way to improve the lives of others throughout Los Angeles.
